On February 24, PIL issued an updated notice on the transport of lithium batteries in dangerous goods: With immediate effect, all cargo containing lithium batteries, regardless of the amount of lithium in the batteries, must be declared and classified as dangerous goods when imported or exported to the following areas covered by the HPL network.

Please also note the following:

{C}1. {C}All lithium batteries to be shipped must be new and sealed. The HPL does not accept damaged, replaced or reloaded lithium batteries

2.For lithium-ion batteries that are declared used, they need to be fully discharged, in other words, they must be waste batteries with no electricity at all

According to the General Administration of Customs, in 2022, the Customs organized a 100-day special action of "Comprehensive control of dangerous goods at ports", focusing on the two prominent problems of "retention" and "concealment", "preventing disasters quickly, controlling disturbances strictly, performing duties according to regulations and comprehensively controlling", reducing the time of dangerous goods staying at ports by 63%, realizing "dynamic zero clearing", and inspecting and releasing 1,569 batches of dangerous goods with false and concealed reports.

In 2023, the Customs will carry out the "Special Action to crack down on the import and export of dangerous Goods with false concealment", improve the long-term mechanism, expand the pilot reform of inspection and supervision mode step by step, strengthen assessment, improve relevant supporting systems, and ensure port safety.
